Our Story

The tourism industry is the backbone of many African economies, yet the tour operator segment – the critical link between travelers and authentic experiences – has historically lacked structured, business-focused training. Passionate individuals enter the field with deep destination knowledge but often struggle with the operational, financial, and marketing demands of running a tour business.

Tour Operators Academy was founded to address this gap. Our approach is simple but powerful: provide practical, industry-aligned training delivered by experienced practitioners, not academics. We believe tour operators succeed when they have access to relevant skills, real-world experience, and a supportive professional network.

To make this training truly practical, we launched TOA Safaris – a fully functioning tour operating company where our trainees serve real clients, handle real bookings, and solve real problems under mentorship. And to ensure tourism benefits everyone – both as workers and as travelers – we established TOA Foundation, which creates employment pathways for marginalized groups and enables vulnerable individuals to experience the magic of safaris.
